The front nine at Merrimack Golf Course is relatively flat and winds through some lowlands and peatbogs out on #2, #5 and #6. In the spring, these holes (especially #5) can be quite wet. On wet spring seasons, occasionally the #5 hole is shortened to a par 3 to help clear from the wettest bog area. Hole # 1 is a short par 5 beginning with a great elevated tee looking over the valley. If not for the small green which won't accomodate a runup approach, it would be a good birdie hole. Hole #3 is a good birdie opportunity if you can get a good (blind) teeshot to begin the hole. Hard dogleg right #8 and straightaway but slight uphill #9 are also good birdie opportunities due to short length.
