The Back nine at MGC starts back at the clubhouse elevation with a great view over the valley. Hole #10 is a fun driving hole, but the approach is difficult with a small left to right sloped green, difficult to hold. Good birdie opportunities are presented on #11 and #12, a par 3 and a short par 5. There are pretty good birdie opportunities at #14, #16 (fun short par 3 called 'The Bucket') and #18. But don't get fooled by the seemingly easy holes because of length; these greens are small and fast. The walnut trees still drop a few thousand cased nuts every year, some of these all over the 16th green. Hole #15, called 'Long Trail' is a nice long par 5 which begs you to swing from your heels off the tee, but it's not a sure par hole. Too bad the well pump at #16 is defunct; it used to provide you with the sweetest, coldest, purest water anywhere outside of Poland Spring, ME.
