Welcome to the 1999 Annual Cape Fall Golf Classic which which was held on October 15-17, 1999 on beautiful Cape Cod, MA.
The third day of the tourney found us at the Cranberry Valley Golf Course in Harwich. Why I didn't think to ask Larry Freed to be my teammate again is a mystery to me now. We sure could have used him. I can't give a complete report on how the scoring went, the cards have mysteriously disappeared. I can report that I broke even on the day halving both front and back nine matches. Interestingly, I won hole #9 to tie Phil and lost hole #18 to tie Steve who parred the funnest hole on the course, while I scored a double bogus. I guess the Layhe team couldn't follow the 1999 American Ryder Cup
team's performance because in the end, we halved the singles day competition 6 points to each team, thereby holding the Gaschler's lead of 2 points. The final margin was: Gaschlers-13.0; Layhes-11.0. Ah, it's only money!
By the way, in case you missed it; Ken Layhe once again won the coveted "I can't believe I came all this way to play golf with these bozos" award. As usual, he comes all the way to the east coast of the states from somewhere downunder (Melbourne, Australia actually), just to visit and play with the old gang from Honeywell/Bull. I think his folks own Qantas Airlines or something. Some of us wouldn't travel over an hour to join in this fun.
